In a major narcotic raid, the Anti-Narcotic Cell of Goa Police arrested a 56-year-old Nigerian history-sheeter with drugs worth around Rs 75 lakh. Interestingly, the accused, Innocent Okezuonu Anaemem, was involved in the infamous National Highway Blockade case at Porvorim in 2013.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Nerlon Albuquerque said that it is one of the major narcotic raids conducted at Arpora in Bardez, wherein drugs worth Rs 74.75 lakhs were seized from the accused.
The accused, originally hailing from Uburu-Ekwe, Abuja, Nigeria, and presently residing in Arpora, was arrested for being in possession of a staggering 480 grams of cocaine worth Rs 72 lakhs, 15 grams of Ecstasy powder worth Rs. 1.50 lakhs, and 250 grams of Charas worth Rs. 1.25 lakhs, the DySP said.
The accused was under ANC radar for almost a week, with movements and prominent hangout locations monitored throughout.
“Finally, with human intelligence and technical surveillance, ANC laid a trap and nabbed the Nigerian drug dealer,” DySP said, adding that the Police have also attached some cash and a two-wheeler scooter used by the Nigerian for the drug trade.
Albuquerque further revealed that the accused has three cases registered in Goa against him, and the same are pending trial before the concerned courts.
In 2013, the accused was arrested in the infamous National Highway Blockade case at O’Coqueiro junction, Porvorim. Further, he was arrested for overstaying without legal documents and was lodged at the detention center, Mapusa. The third case was registered against the accused while he was lodged at the detention center for assaulting an employee of the center.
